<p>The chest is made up of the pectoralis major and the pectoralis minor.  A <strong>pec workout</strong> really targets the major muscle because it makes most of the musculature on the chest.</p>

<p>The most common of all chest exercises is the bench press with a straight bar.  This exercise has become the true test of a mans strength.  When people want to know how strong you are, they ask how much you can bench press.</p>
<p>Everyone has different goals when it comes to their chests or to working in general:</p>

<li> Some do it for the health benefits associated with being fit.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li> Others exercise to get stronger.</li>
</ul>

<p>I truly believe that for most people it is a combination of all 4 desires.  There are different chest workouts depending on your ultimate goal.  If you are wanting to simply get stronger, you will be focusing on lifting heavy weight.  You weight training sessions will consist mostly of low rep heavy weight workouts. </p>
<p>1 Set 10 reps of a light warm-up weight<br />
1 Set of 8 reps with a slight increase of weight.<br />
1 Set of 5 reps with heavy weight.<br />
1 Set of 3 reps with the heaviest weight you can do 3 times.  </p>
